Kunafa Recipe 

Kanafa (arabic dessert) recipe 
1 packet kanafa pastry dough or (seviyan)

1 cup milted butter

200 g unsalted cheese 

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 tbs of lemon juice 

1/2 of rose water and cardamom powder or vanilla extract (optional)

1/2 cup Grinded almonds,walnuts,pistachio and golden raisins 

In a heavy bottomed saucepan on medium-high heat,add water, 1 1/2 cups sugar and lemon juice, stir to combine ,and let simmer to a syrup consistency then remove from heat and add vanilla extract or rose water or cardamom powder for flavour,

Preheat the oven before on 250 degrees, And butter a round cake pan,

In another bowl mix the seviyan very well with 1/2 cup of melted butter and red food color,cover the cake pan with half of the seviyan and press down lightly,

Spread the unsalted cheese in a layer over seviyan, then cover with remaining half of the seviyan again press down,

Sprinkle with sugar and grinded almonds,walnuts,pistachios and some raisins, Again press down lightly,

Bake about 30 to 45 mins until light golden, Remember the reverse side will be more golden when you turn it out,

Immediately pour cold sugar syrup over the hot kunafa ,it should be served warm or hot,
